The Roody sustainability ethos

In a previous life, I worked as a management consultant. In the 10 years I was in consulting, I visited more than 100 clients, and at each company there were boxes of cheap, brand-name pens, bound diaries, and Fruit of the Loom T-shirts.

I love promotional giftsβ€”when used correctly, they're a great way to bring a brand to life and build connections with customers and employees. When I started my own business, I wanted to order a unique, eco-friendly promotional gift.

So I started looking into what sustainable options were available. The options I saw were:

  • Hanf-T-Shirts
  • Bamboo phone holder
  • Recycled, cheap, reusable plastic cups

I didn't want any of those things. I genuinely didn't want themβ€”and neither did my customers or my staff. Just because an item is made from sustainable materials doesn't mean it's sustainable.

Due to the lack of options, I completely pivoted and started a sustainable promotional gifts company. Roody was founded to create amazing products that don't end up in landfills. So, here are the things we look for when launching a product:

  • Is it of good quality and will it likely be used.
  • Are the materials the most sustainable materials available?
  • Do we want it for our own company?
  • If we have full transparency in the supply chain, we can be sure that workers are paid fairly.
  • Are the manufacturing processes as environmentally friendly as possible?

All of our products have undergone this process, and we test them extensively. We manufacture most of our products ourselves, which means we have full transparency and control. We are constantly evolving and improving our processes. While we are growing rapidly, we don't compromise on our ethos as we expand.
